The Ogun State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s Isese Day celebration.
The government said the decision was aimed at allowing residents and adherents of the Yoruba traditional religion to participate in activities celebrating indigenous culture, religion and heritage.
Isese Day was formally recognised as a public holiday in Ogun State in 2023 following approval by the state government.
The annual observance provides an opportunity for traditional religion adherents to honour their heritage, promote indigenous values and preserve cultural practices.
The government urged residents to use the celebration to promote peace, unity and respect for the state’s diverse cultural and religious traditions.
