I’ll Comeback Stronger, Broda Shaggi Breaks Silence

Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor, Samuel Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, has broken his months-long silence, thanking fans for their continued support during his prolonged absence from the public space.

Shaggi, who has largely stayed away from public appearances, social engagements and comedy shows in recent months, acknowledged that he had been unable to connect with his fans as he would have wanted.

In a message shared on his WhatsApp channel on Friday, the comedian expressed gratitude to supporters who continued to check on him and stand by him despite his absence.

He said their patience and loyalty meant more to him than he could fully express.

Shaggi, however, did not disclose the reason for his prolonged absence, saying he was not yet ready to tell his full story.

He hinted that he would eventually explain what he had been going through and expressed hope that he would soon return to the entertainment activities for which he is known.

The skit maker also assured his fans that he had not forgotten them and remained hopeful of reconnecting with them when he was ready to return.

He promised to come back “better” and “stronger” and make up for the time he had spent away from the entertainment scene.

The development comes months after reports of an alleged shooting incident involving the comedian raised concerns among his fans.

The Ogun State Police Command had previously commenced an investigation into reports that Shaggi sustained a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit around the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

The reported incident was said to have occurred while Shaggi and members of his crew were filming under the Sango-Ota bridge.

However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear, with the Ogun State Police Command stating at the time that it could not confirm that the shooting occurred within the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged members of the public to refrain from circulating unverified information while investigations continued.

The Lagos State Police Command also disclosed that its officers had been alerted by a hospital about a gunshot victim receiving treatment at the facility.

According to the command, officers who visited the hospital identified the victim as Shaggi, who had sustained an injury to his thigh.

The command, however, noted that the reported location of the incident, Sango-Ota, fell outside its jurisdiction.

Reports at the time indicated that Shaggi was initially taken to a hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos before being referred to another medical facility in Ikeja.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were subsequently questioned on social media, while Shaggi and his management did not publicly provide a detailed account of what happened.

His prolonged absence from public events, comedy shows and his regular online activities subsequently generated concern among fans, many of whom repeatedly sought updates on his wellbeing.

His latest message represents his most significant public communication in several months, although he again stopped short of explaining the circumstances that led to his withdrawal from the public space.

Instead, Shaggi focused on thanking his supporters and assuring them that he had not forgotten them.

Known for his energetic comic style and distinctive characters, Shaggi rose to prominence through social media comedy and has established a significant presence in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

For now, his fans await the fuller explanation he has promised, as well as his return to the comedy scene.
