Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has urged legal practitioners across the country to remain committed to the principles of justice, rule of law and democratic values as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the call while emphasising the critical role of lawyers in protecting democratic institutions and ensuring that justice remains a foundation of governance. He noted that the legal profession carries a significant responsibility in promoting fairness, accountability and respect for constitutional order.
According to him the participation of lawyers will play a large role in the forthcoming elections he stated that
“The legal community plays an indispensable role in safeguarding the integrity of our democracy,”
Governor Yusuf stressed that lawyers must continue to serve as defenders of democracy by upholding ethical standards and using their expertise to strengthen the country’s justice system. According to him, the stability of any democratic society depends largely on the commitment of legal professionals to the rule of law.
He encouraged members of the legal community to remain impartial and courageous in the discharge of their duties, particularly during periods of heightened political activities and electoral preparations.
