Genevieve Nnaji Lands Major Role In BBC’s ‘Wahala’ After Eight-Year Break

Popular Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji is set to make her acting comeback after nearly eight years off the screen with a major role in BBC Studios’ upcoming thriller series, Wahala.
Nnaji, whose last acting appearance was in the 2018 movie Lionheart, will feature in the six-part television adaptation of Wahala, written by BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Theresa Ikoko.
The series is being produced by BBC Studios through its Firebird Pictures division and is scheduled to air on BBC One as well as stream on BBC iPlayer.
The production boasts a strong cast lineup including Adelayo Adedayo, Deborah Ayorinde, Cush Jumbo and Susan Wokoma.
Adapted from the novel Wahala by Nikki May, the thriller centres on four Nigerian-British women living in London as hidden secrets, strained friendships and painful memories begin to surface.
Speaking on her return to acting, Nnaji said she was thrilled to be part of the project.
“I’m very happy to be joining Wahala and to be working with such a brilliant team. It’s an intriguing story, and I’m excited to be a part of it,” she said.
Executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff also praised the cast, expressing optimism about the upcoming series.
“We are so proud to be announcing our incredible cast for Wahala and can’t wait to see them breathe life into these wonderful characters,” she stated.
