EFCC Chairman Olukoyode: Only 60% of Stolen Funds Can Be Recovered

Mr. Ola Olukoyede, Chairman EFCC

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyode, has said the maximum amount that can be recovered after funds have been stolen is about 60 percent.

Olukoyode disclosed this on Friday during the inauguration of the EFCC Zonal Office in Awka, Anambra State.

According to the EFCC chairman, the difficulty of recovering stolen assets makes prevention a more effective strategy in tackling corruption and financial crimes.

“I have discovered that when money has been stolen, the best you can recover is 60 percent,” he said.

He therefore called on Nigerians to promptly report suspected cases of corruption and financial misconduct to the Commission to enable appropriate action.

Olukoyode also said the EFCC’s presence in Anambra was aimed at supporting efforts to strengthen the state’s economy and promote a more secure environment for legitimate economic activities.
