The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has provided an update on the industrial action involving aviation unions, as efforts continue to resolve the dispute and prevent prolonged disruption to flight operations.
The development follows concerns over the impact of the strike on passengers, airlines and other stakeholders across the aviation sector.
The NCAA said it is monitoring the situation and engaging relevant parties to ensure that outstanding issues are addressed and normal operations are restored.
The authority urged aviation stakeholders to remain calm and allow the ongoing discussions to produce a resolution, while assuring passengers that developments would be communicated as necessary.
A statement by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Ona Najomo, has called on aviation unions to end their ongoing industrial action and restore peace.
“We appeal to all parties to embrace dialogue and cooperation. We are confident that the matter will be resolved shortly and normal flight operations will resume as soon as practicable.
“The NCAA regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and appreciates their patience and understanding,” the statement said.
The unions’ action is linked to unresolved labour and welfare concerns, with stakeholders pushing for an agreement that would protect workers’ interests without further disrupting air travel.
The NCAA reiterated its commitment to maintaining safety and regulatory standards throughout the dispute and encouraged all parties to pursue dialogue in the interest of the aviation industry and travelling public.
