Suspected kidnappers have killed the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Rantan Ward, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Garba Buba, during an overnight attack on the community.
The assailants reportedly stormed Rantan on Sunday night and opened fire, leaving Buba and another resident, Sulaiman Zunduma, dead.
A resident, Hamza Isah Rantan, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post while mourning the victims.
According to him, Buba sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died.
Zunduma, who was also hit during the assault, reportedly died at the scene.

“On Sunday night kidnappers attacked our town, Rantan, where they shot Alhaji Garab Buha, the APC ward chairman in Rantan, who later died in a hospital. They also killed another resident, Sulaiman Zunduma.
“We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcoming and heals the injured.
Police authorities in Kano State had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
The latest violence occurred hours after the rescue of the Sarkin Noman of Kano State, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, who was abducted by gunmen in Chiromawa community, Garun Malam Local Government Area.
Five persons were reportedly shot and injured during that attack, which took place at about 11pm on Saturday.
