APC Campaign Council List to Be Adjusted, Not Reviewed – Presidency 

The Presidency has clarified that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council list for the 2027 election remains valid, although adjustments may be made to accommodate additional party leaders and political stakeholders.

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made the clarification on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Dare was responding to reports that the APC had withdrawn the campaign council list amid controversy over the inclusion and exclusion of certain party leaders and political figures.

He said the list had not been withdrawn, adding that the campaign structure was still being expanded through the creation of various subcommittees.

“As it is with every other list, there’s room for subcommittees. Those subcommittees have not been formed, and so many other names will come into that subcommittee,” Dare said.

He added that the APC had already clarified the matter in a statement issued on Tuesday, insisting that the existing list remained valid.

“But of course, there will be adjustments. The list is not cast in stone, just like every other list,” he said.

The APC had on Tuesday dismissed reports that it had withdrawn its 2027 presidential campaign council list, which was announced over the weekend.

Under the announced structure, President Tinubu was named chairman of the council, while Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda were designated vice chairmen.

Former Zamfara State Governor and serving Senator, Abdul’aziz Yari, was named Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was appointed secretary.

Asked whether the anticipated changes amounted to a review of the list, Dare rejected the description, saying the appropriate term was “adjustment”.

“Not a review, just adjustments where necessary,” he said.

The presidential aide explained that describing the development as a review would suggest a comprehensive restructuring of the campaign council, which, according to him, was not the case.

“Review is wholesale, this is not wholesale,” Dare said.

He explained that the planned subcommittees would create additional opportunities for party members and other political stakeholders to participate in the campaign organisation without necessarily altering the core structure already announced.

The clarification comes amid heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections and continuing discussions within the APC over the composition and operational structure of President Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
