2027: OK Movement Unveils 59-Member Presidential Campaign Council

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The council comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors overseeing mobilisation, women affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, legal affairs, administration and other campaign portfolios.

The development was announced in a statement issued by the movement on Thursday.

The Director-General of the movement, John Ughulu, was named Director-General of the campaign, while its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, was also listed among the campaign leadership.

The structure includes representatives from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators designated for the 36 states.

Other portfolios include grassroots mobilisation, contact and engagement, special duties, procurement, information technology, legal affairs, strategy and planning, security and intelligence, and administration.

The unveiling comes as the movement steps up preparations to mobilise support for the joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 election.

In a message congratulating the newly appointed members, Sani described their selection as a call to duty and urged them to take the movement’s message to communities across the country.

“Your selection is not merely an appointment; it is a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria. At this critical moment in our nation’s history, the responsibility before the Presidential Campaign Council is enormous,” she said.

Sani said the council members were expected to take the vision and aspirations of the movement’s principals from the cities to grassroots communities, states, local government areas and wards across the country.

She added, “Your appointment is an honour, but more importantly, it is a responsibility. The journey has begun. The assignment is clear. The mission is Nigeria.”

According to her, the movement was focused on a broader national agenda rather than individual political recognition.

“The OK Movement is not built around individuals seeking personal recognition. It is a movement driven by a larger national vision: to mobilise Nigerians around the possibility of a better, more prosperous, united and functional Nigeria,” she said.

Sani urged members of the campaign council to approach their responsibilities with discipline, loyalty, humility and commitment to the movement’s stated objectives.

She also identified grassroots mobilisation, strategic planning, effective communication and teamwork as key responsibilities ahead of the election.

“Our responsibility is to ensure that the message of our principals reaches every Nigerian and that the voice of the people is heard across the length and breadth of our nation,” she said.

Among those appointed are Suleiman Abubakar as North-Central Coordinator; Hashimu Dungurawa, North-West Coordinator; Amadu Gwambe, North-East Coordinator; Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye, South-West Coordinator; Christopher Ighodaro, South-South Coordinator; and El-Shaddai Ikeh, South-East Coordinator.

The movement also appointed state coordinators for the 36 states and the FCT.

Other appointees include Rev. Mike Agbon, Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Director of Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Director of Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Director of Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Director of Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Director of Special Duties; Peace Daful, Director of Procurement; Prof. Charles Nwekeaku, Director of South-East Town Hall; and Sunmisola Adebayo, Director of Information Technology.

Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs; Abiodun Dabiri, Director of Strategy and Planning; Richard Enemona, a retired CSP, Director of Security and Intelligence; while Aisha Abdulrahaman was named Director of Administration.

The movement had earlier said it would retain its independent structure rather than merge with another political organisation ahead of the 2027 election, while maintaining its support for Ughulu as its founder and Director-General.

The unveiling also followed the movement’s recent condemnation of the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State. The group called for an impartial investigation and said its security personnel exercised restraint to prevent the incident from escalating.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027.
