The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has expressed confidence that the party can defeat the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the 2027 governorship election.
Alli said the APC had the political structure and support required to challenge the APM, whose governorship candidate is Abimbola Adekanmbi, a former commissioner in the state.
He described the 2027 contest as an opportunity for Oyo voters to assess the records, programmes and capacity of the competing candidates.
Alli’s comments followed renewed political exchanges between the APC and APM, with Governor Seyi Makinde, who is the APM presidential candidate, previously urging Alli to focus on his party’s governorship candidate rather than his administration.
Alli said, “We are strategically positioned to win the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and House of Assembly elections in Oyo State in 2027.
“But victory requires hard work at the grassroots. We must go to the people, engage them and strengthen our structures across the state.
“This is not about individuals. It is about the party and our collective responsibility to build a stronger APC in Oyo State.”
The APC candidate said his campaign would remain focused on presenting its plans for Oyo State and mobilising voters ahead of the election.
Political activities have intensified in the state as parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.
