The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has disclosed fresh plans to strengthen the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general election, insisting that efforts to build a united political front against the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, remain ongoing.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the possibility of expanding the coalition remains open despite the withdrawal of some prominent political figures from the earlier arrangement.
Abdullahi said the ADC believes opposition parties would have a stronger chance of challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if they work together rather than contesting the election separately.
He explained that the party is continuing consultations with political groups and stakeholders as part of efforts to establish a broader coalition capable of presenting a formidable challenge to the APC in 2027.
“We still have not given up the possibility. Don’t forget that we started this coalition building. And we still believe that the window has not closed for the possibility of building a coalition ahead of 2027 because we believe that the opposition stands a better chance if we are all working together.” He said.
According to him, the coalition building process has not been abandoned, while the ADC is simultaneously strengthening its own structures and preparing for the election.
He maintained that the party remains committed to creating a platform that can unite opposition forces and provide Nigerians with a credible alternative at the polls.
