2027: ADC Chieftain Aminu Ibrahim Defects to APC in Sokoto

APC

Professor Aminu Ibrahim, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ibrahim, a former rector of Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto, and a professor of mathematics at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, made his decision public at a ceremony in Sokoto, the state capital.

Explaining his move, the academic said his decision was driven by a desire to contribute to Sokoto State’s development, with particular attention to education and other key sectors of the economy.

He added that, as an academic, he considered it a responsibility to apply his expertise and professional experience towards improving the welfare of the people.

Welcoming the professor into the APC, the party’s chairman in Sokoto State, Haruna Sarkin-Gobir Adiya, described his arrival as an addition to the party’s membership.

Adiya also called on Ibrahim to collaborate with existing party members to strengthen unity and cooperation as the APC positions itself for the 2027 general elections.

The defection comes against the backdrop of political manoeuvring in Sokoto State, where political parties are working to consolidate their support bases and strengthen their structures ahead of the next general elections.
