Nollywood actress and filmmaker Yetunde Barnabas has accused film critic Ajefunke Kofoshi of misleading the public over their dispute, insisting that Kofoshi was arrested rather than merely invited by the police.
Barnabas made the allegation in a social media post after Kofoshi shared a video featuring both women, reportedly presenting her encounter with the police as an invitation.
The actress claimed that Kofoshi had been arrested, admitted wrongdoing and pleaded for forgiveness over comments that sparked their disagreement.
Barnabas said she agreed to let the matter rest in the interest of peace after warning Kofoshi against directing curses and insults at others. She also maintained that Kofoshi had asked her to participate in the video to address the dispute.
“You were picked up and arrested; you begged and admitted your wrongdoing and begged me, so I let it go for the sake of peace because there’s nothing in this life,” Barnabas wrote.
The disagreement reportedly began after Kofoshi criticised Barnabas’s film, Ojise, and made comments about the actress and her work. Barnabas subsequently accused the critic of bullying and damaging her reputation, prompting her to pursue the matter through legal channels.
“Do not mislead the public,” Barnabas added.
Barnabas’s latest comments have reignited public attention on the dispute, with the two women presenting differing accounts of the police encounter and the circumstances surrounding their reconciliation.
