Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has signed a series of executive orders aimed at addressing drug abuse, political thuggery and the illegal exploitation of the state’s natural resources.
The governor said the measures form part of his administration’s broader strategy to strengthen public safety, promote responsible governance and protect Taraba’s economic assets from criminal activities.
According to him, the executive orders are designed to curb the rising menace of substance abuse among youths, dismantle political violence and safeguard communities affected by illegal mining and other forms of resource exploitation.
“The measure became necessary following increasing concerns over the growing incidence of substance abuse and its links to criminality, violence and social instability.” Kefas said.
Kefas stressed that the directives would be implemented in collaboration with security agencies, relevant government institutions and community leaders to ensure effective enforcement.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and creating an environment conducive to sustainable development and investment.
“The order will strengthens measures against the illegal exploitation of natural resources, promotes environmental sustainability and safeguards the rights and welfare of communities hosting legitimate resource development activities.” Kefas stated.
The governor urged residents to support the implementation of the new measures by complying with the directives and cooperating with law enforcement agencies to ensure lasting peace and security across the state.
