Senator Agom Jarigbe Jarigbe has slammed as false and politically driven the viral online and social media reports claiming that constituency project contracts were awarded to a company linked to him or his family — a rebuttal now confirmed by over 180 civil society organisations.
The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG) said its independent assessment found no evidence to support the allegations and fully validated the senator’s public defense.
The coalition, which unites more than 180 groups championing transparency, accountability, and good governance, described the allegations as “smear campaigns” and urged citizens and political actors to focus on verified facts rather than viral rumors.
In a statement signed by Comrade Ogakwu Dominic, President of CSGGG, the groups emphasized that Senator Jarigbe had repeatedly debunked the claims across multiple online platforms and social media, and that their independent review confirmed his rebuttal.
“Our findings align with Senator Jarigbe’s public statements. The allegations are unfounded, lack factual basis, and appear designed to distort public perception,” the statement read.
The report highlights the senator’s extensive achievements across Ogoja, Yala, Bekwarra, Obudu, and Obanliku local government areas.
His interventions in education include construction, renovation, and furnishing of classrooms, staff rooms, and modern toilets, directly improving learning conditions for thousands of students.
Infrastructure projects under his watch have boosted connectivity and trade, including completed and ongoing roads such as Ibil–Abakpa, Busangfong, and Yahe–Ukelle, as well as bridges at Ukpagada (Ogoja) and Amukwong (Obudu).
Others are over 180 solar-powered and motorized boreholes, 500KVA transformers, and solar streetlights have transformed communities, improving access to water, electricity, and public safety.
Healthcare initiatives include medical outreaches, equipment distribution to 10 primary healthcare centres, and enrollment of 1,000 constituents into the JariCare Health Insurance Scheme.
Farmers and youths have benefited from tractors, fertilizers, hand tillers, and skills training in aquaculture and data management.
Senator Jarigbe’s empowerment programmes have reached thousands, delivering scholarships, laptops, motorcycles, tricycles, cash grants for businesswomen, and food and financial aid for households. Recreational facilities like a mini stadium in Ogoja and community centres have also fostered youth engagement and community cohesion.
Comrade Dominic warned that democracy is undermined when unverified claims are circulated, urging the public to base discourse on documented outcomes rather than social media rumors.
The coalition concluded that Senator Jarigbe’s record demonstrates “measurable development impact and legislative diligence,” while fully supporting his public rebuttal of the viral contract allegations.
