Remain Vigilant, Dele Momodu Warns Adeleke Ahead of Osun Guber Poll
Veteran journalist and publisher, Dele Momodu, has urged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to remain vigilant ahead of the August 15 governorship election, warning of possible challenges during the electoral process.
Momodu, in a message to Adeleke on Friday, described the governor as his “twin brother” and said he was compelled to reach out to him in the interest of posterity.
He expressed doubts about the prospect of a free, fair and credible election, alleging that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was determined to use the Osun election as a test run for the 2027 presidential election.
Momodu also claimed that some of his friends within the APC had warned him to expect “any eventuality” during the poll, alleging that party supporters had been instructed to secure control of Osun State by any means necessary.
He, however, urged Adeleke to remain steadfast and continue to rely on God, while commending the governor for what he described as his achievements in the state.
“Please, hold on tightly to God as you’ve always been. We are proud of the uncommon work you’ve done, and doing,” Momodu said, urging the governor to allow opposition parties to campaign on their records.
The veteran journalist’s warning comes amid heightened political tension ahead of the election, with concerns being expressed by political actors and public figures over the conduct of the poll.
The development also follows concerns raised by Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido and a nephew of Governor Adeleke, who recently said he would seek the intervention of United States President Donald Trump if he became dissatisfied with the conduct of the election.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 15, 2026, with Governor Adeleke seeking another term in office.
