Senior Political Assistant to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarenwaju,has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of being responsible for an alleged threat against Senator Ademola Fadahunsi, representing Osun East.
Olarenwaju raised the allegation amid heightened political activities ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election, warning that threats against political actors could undermine the credibility of the poll.
He called on security agencies to investigate the alleged threat and ensure the safety of Fadahunsi and other political stakeholders participating in the election.
Olarenwaju also urged the Federal Government to guarantee a level playing field and allow the people of Osun State to freely choose their preferred candidate without intimidation or interference.
Posting on X, he wrote: “That Fadahunsi is still going to the TV station instead of the police station is confirmation of federal compromise.
“The laughable AI claims are an insult to our collective intelligence, and I wish he would be bold enough to double down on his evil directives to his APC thugs.
“Bola Tinubu’s ‘all is fair in politics’ statement has laid the foundation for extreme actions by APC persons, with Osun as the first experiment and Fadahunsi as the first APC chieftain caught on camera acting accordingly.
“He should be arrested and prosecuted immediately. Fadahunsi should at least be kept under house arrest for the duration of the rest of the campaigns in Osun until a winner is announced to be forewarned is to be forearmed.
“The blatant preferential treatment for APC by the federal police is unacceptable by any democratic standard.”
He stressed that the credibility of the election would depend largely on the ability of security agencies and other relevant authorities to protect voters, candidates and other stakeholders.
The allegation comes as political activities intensify across the state ahead of the governorship election, with parties mobilising supporters and making final preparations for the poll.
