NYSC Moves to Streamline Online Registration with AI-Enabled Technology

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is set to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions to streamline the online registration process for Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) and improve service delivery.

The Director-General of the Scheme, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, disclosed this during an interaction with members of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream One at the Delta State NYSC Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku.

Nafiu said the initiative was designed to make registration more accessible and seamless, ensuring that all eligible prospective corps members could successfully register through the NYSC portal in line with emerging technological developments.

He added that the Scheme would gradually migrate some of its operations to technology-driven platforms to improve efficiency and enhance service delivery.

“We are going to leave the option for biometric profiling and also discuss with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC),” he said.

The NYSC chief also announced plans to improve the quality of kits provided to corps members from next year.

Beyond the planned technological upgrades, Nafiu urged the corps members to maximise their deployment to Delta State by building meaningful relationships and professional networks that could benefit them beyond their service year.

He encouraged them to acquire practical and marketable skills to support self-employment, job creation and financial independence.

“Learn new skills, and people will value your skills. Buy shares because you have great opportunities to venture into commodity trading after your service year,” he advised.

Earlier, the Delta State NYSC Coordinator, Mr John Kwaghe, presented the camp situation report, disclosing that 1,697 corps members had registered at the orientation camp.

He added that 1,094 corps members had been dislodged from Lagos State to the Delta camp.
