The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kano State Command, has arrested three men in connection with alleged car theft and cable vandalism in separate incidents across the state.
Two of the suspects, identified as 61-year-old Abdullahi Sani and 63-year-old Abdullahi Suleiman, were apprehended during a routine patrol at Ladanai Junction along the Eastern Bypass in Kano.
The NSCDC said the men were allegedly driving a red Toyota Carina II Wagon with registration number LFA 417 AA, Nasarawa, when they were intercepted at about 2am while leaving the Ladanai area.
According to the Command, the vehicle had been reported stolen three days before the suspects were arrested.
Sani was identified as a resident of Kurna Tudun Bojuwa, while Suleiman is from Kantudu in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.
In a separate operation, personnel of the Corps arrested 45-year-old Suleiman Shehu over the alleged vandalism of an armoured cable belonging to Triumph Nigeria Limited in Bompai, Nassarawa Local Government Area.
The Command said Shehu, who works for the company, was arrested after he was allegedly found vandalising the cable.
The three suspects remain in NSCDC custody as preliminary investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents and determine their alleged involvement.
The Corps said the suspects would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
The NSCDC Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama II, praised the operatives involved in the arrests, describing their response as prompt.
“I commend the vigilance and professionalism of our operatives for their timely intervention. This arrest once again demonstrates the importance of routine patrols and intelligence-driven operations in preventing and combating criminal activities across the state, ” he added.
Agalama also assured residents that the Command would sustain its collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public to safeguard lives and property.
“I assure the good people of Kano State that the Command will continue to strengthen its operations, in collaboration with other sister security agencies and members of the public, to protect lives and property,” he said.
The NSCDC subsequently urged residents to remain alert and share credible information concerning suspicious activities with security agencies to support efforts to curb crime across the state.
