Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to a Quranic recitation competition following the President’s ongoing spiritual visit to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj, known as Umrah.
Melaye issued the challenge in a post on his X account on Monday, declaring his readiness to compete with the President in Quranic citations upon his return from the pilgrimage.
“Now that Alhaji Bola Tinubu is in Umrah. Immediately he comes back, I challenge him to a Quranic recitation competition with me. No one can mock God. SDM,” he wrote.
The challenge followed an update by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared details of Tinubu’s religious activities in Saudi Arabia, including his visit to the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah.
Melaye’s post has drawn attention to the President’s religious engagement during the pilgrimage, although the former senator did not provide further details about the proposed competition.
