The African Democratic Congress ,ADC, has warned the All Progressives Congress ,APC, that its continued stay in power in Jigawa State should not be taken for granted ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The warning was issued by the ADC Chairman in Jigawa State, Malam Aminu Ibrahim, as the state marked its 35th anniversary.
Ibrahim said the anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on Jigawa’s political and developmental journey while assessing the performance of successive administrations.
“To the APC government, I say this respectfully but clearly: if you must celebrate Jigawa’s 35th anniversary in office, then celebrate it knowing that it may be your last Jigawa anniversary in office.” He said.
He cautioned the ruling APC against complacency, stressing that political power ultimately belongs to the people and can change hands through the ballot box.
According to him, the electorate will judge political parties based on their performance, policies and ability to address the challenges confronting residents.
The ADC chairman urged the people of Jigawa to remain politically conscious and participate actively in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also called on opposition members to strengthen their grassroots structures and present credible alternatives to voters across the state.
