The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has warned legal practitioners against charging clients in foreign currencies, saying offenders will face prosecution.
The Acting Zonal Director of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the EFCC, ACE I Bawa Usman Kaltungo, issued the warning on Friday, September 11, 2026, during a meeting with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Task Force on Illegal Practice of Law.
The delegation, led by its Head, Moshood Abiola, visited Kaltungo at his office in Lagos as part of a courtesy visit.
During the meeting, Kaltungo raised concerns about lawyers involved in practices he described as illegal and unethical, stressing that the commission would take action against practitioners found culpable.
“The Commission would not hesitate to prosecute anyone found culpable,” Kaltungo said.
