Former First Lady Aisha Buhari on Wednesday visited former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at his residence in Abuja.
Atiku disclosed the meeting in a post on his social media platforms, describing the visit as “warm and deeply appreciated.”
According to the former Vice-President, the visit also underscored the need for those seeking a better Nigeria to prioritise the welfare, dignity and future of citizens.
“Today, I was delighted to receive former First Lady, H.E. Aisha Buhari. Her visit was warm and deeply appreciated,” Atiku said.
He added that the encounter was a reminder of the responsibility facing those seeking to contribute to the country’s future.
Atiku used the occasion to highlight the economic pressures facing households, citing the rising costs of food, transportation, education, healthcare and other basic necessities.
“Across our country, families are being stretched by the rising cost of food, transport, education, healthcare and other basic necessities,” he said.
He said Nigerians deserved an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunities and enables families to live with dignity and hope.
“That is the Nigeria we must build together, a country that works for its people again,” the former Vice-President said.
He added: “We must ease the burden, restore hope and Make Nigeria Affordable Again.”
Aisha Buhari was reportedly accompanied by one of her daughters and some associates during the visit.
However, neither Aisha nor Atiku publicly disclosed the specific purpose of the visit or details of their discussion.
The meeting comes amid heightened political activities and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
