2027: Tinubu Has Taken Nigerians for a Joke, ADC Presidential Campaign Council Alleges

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his reported plan to limit his campaign to 12 states ahead of the 2027 general election, arguing that he should reconsider seeking a second term if he is unwilling to engage voters nationwide.

The council’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the remarks while receiving a delegation of youths under the platform of Young Voters for Atiku.

Ologbondiyan described the reported campaign arrangement as disrespectful to Nigerians, maintaining that a president seeking re-election should visit voters across the country and account for his administration’s performance.

“What President Tinubu has done is a clear act of contempt against the Nigerian people,” Ologbondiyan said.

He dismissed suggestions that the demands of presidential office could prevent Tinubu from campaigning nationwide, citing former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, who sought re-election while serving in office.

“President Tinubu has taken Nigerians for a joke and should not seek re-election. A President who is afraid to face his own people has no business asking for their votes,” he said.

The ADC-PCC spokesperson further accused the Tinubu administration of worsening public dissatisfaction, pointing to concerns over hunger, poverty, insecurity and mounting economic pressures facing Nigerians.

“He knows Nigerians are hungry and angry. He knows that the average Nigerian finds it difficult to eat and to be secure,” he added.

The opposition campaign council called on young voters to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, arguing that another term for the party would prolong the country’s existing challenges.

Ologbondiyan also expressed confidence that ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar would conduct a nationwide campaign covering all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He said an administration led by Atiku would focus on economic recovery, wealth creation, national security and improving living conditions across the country.

“Atiku Abubakar will bring back subsidy to reduce cost of petroleum products, create wealth, end hunger in our land, secure our nation and restore our battered economy,” he said.
