The Executive Director of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Professor Ishaq Akintola, has urged Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to prepare to leave Government House ahead of the 2027 governorship election, expressing confidence that the governor would not secure another term in office.
Akintola made the remarks on Monday in a statement assessing the political landscape in Osun State as preparations for the next governorship election gather pace.
He argued that the current administration has fallen short of public expectations, maintaining that the electorate would determine the state’s next political direction through the ballot.
The MURIC Executive Director urged Governor Adeleke to concentrate on governance during the remainder of his tenure, rather than engaging in early electioneering activities, insisting that democratic processes should be allowed to take their course.
“As preparations for the gubernatorial election in Osun on 15th August, 2026
enter top gear, we remind Governor Ademola Adeleke to start packing his dancing kits out of Oke-Fia Government House before it is too late.
”For the flyover damaged after three weeks, for the alleged ‘edenisation’ of governance, for alleged mishandling of local government affairs, alleged examination malpractice, etc, we can’t look away.
”Governor Adeleke has crossed the Rubicon. He will be roundly defeated in the coming gubernatorial election in Osun on 15th August, 2026. That will be his punishment for playing on the intelligence of Osun Muslims,” the statement said.
Akintola also called on political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid actions capable of undermining the credibility of the electoral process, stressing the need for issue-based politics ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
