The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Rt. Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru, has appealed to lecturers of Kaduna State University (KASU) to return to classrooms, urging them to consider the impact of the prolonged industrial action on students.
Ashiru made the appeal on Thursday amid the ongoing dispute between the lecturers and the Kaduna State Government, which has disrupted academic activities at the institution.
He urged both sides to prioritise dialogue and seek a resolution that would allow students to resume their studies without further disruption.
“I appeal to the lecturers, as parents too, to consider the future of our children and return to work while negotiations continue. Our students should not become the ultimate victims of a dispute between workers and government.
“Every day the crisis persists is another day lost in the academic journey of thousands of young people whose parents have made enormous sacrifices to educate them.”The statement said.
The ADC candidate stressed that prolonged interruptions to academic activities could affect students’ academic progress and future prospects.
He appealed to the lecturers to consider the interests of students and their families while negotiations continue, urging all stakeholders to pursue a peaceful resolution to the dispute.
Ashiru said the future of young people should remain a major consideration in resolving disagreements affecting the education sector.
